Club History

A quick background to our club

OUR club was established in 1975, and has a broad band of members from all walks of life with various diving experience. Ormskirk Sub Aqua Club or as we say, OSAC, was set up to help anyone who was interested in the sport, and then to take it up and get trained. To this day the impetus of our club is still the same. The club has always been a member of the British Sub Aqua Club, otherwise known as BSAC. BSAC are officially recognized by the Sports Council as the United Kingdoms governing body for sport diving. It is run by members for members and the organisation now has a membership of over 55,000 with some 1,200 branches in more than 50 countries around the world!

Our branch (OSAC) has over 60 members and we are an open and friendly club and have a busy diving and training schedule each year.

OSAC since its beginnings has always had a boat to get members out to the wrecks off the North West Coastline. Currently the club owns a 5.8 metre rigid inflatable boat that we commonly use to dive the wrecks of Liverpool Bay and beyond.

Within the last two years we have had trips to Australia, The Red Sea, Oban, Anglesey, Seahouses on the North East Coast, Normandy and have arranged for this year to dive the Clyde and Scapa Flow in the Orkneys.
