New Members Information
As a new or prospective member of Ormskirk Sub Aqua Club (OSAC) we hope the following information will help you understand how the club operates and what you may reasonably expect the club to provide for you in return for your membership subscription.
The first step is to decide what type of diving and where you want to dive. There is a world of difference between training and diving in the warm clear waters of the Red Sea and diving in the waters around the British coast, however, the rewards can be just as great.
You may be new to diving and wish to train to dive exotic locations on your next holiday, or you may be a diver who has trained with the BSAC or other training agency already. In either case we can provide you with the training to advanced level and dive within a friendly club environment.
The club has qualified and experienced instructors to guide beginners and qualified divers to develop their confidence, experience and ability.
We meet at Park Pool, Ormskirk, every Wednesday evening and have exclusive use of the pool between 9 and 10pm for practical lessons. We also meet upstairs at Park Pool for theory lessons and committee meetings on Mondays and Wednesdays prior to pool sessions.
These sessions are generally followed by a session at the Buck I'th Vine pub in Ormskirk.

- Initial Training
The induction and training of new
club members is an integral part of OSAC's activities and we continue to spend large part of our time coaching aspiring divers through the BSAC's training scheme.
We consider it vital to the success of the club to attract new members and ensure that they are trained to the highest standards.
Each prospective member is encouraged to participate in a try-dive prior to joining the club. The cost of the try-dive is £15; this covers a two-hour introduction to diving and pool session.
Should a try-diver wish to join following the session then the cost of the try-dive is taken off the full subscription so new members don't lose out financially.
As with any sport you will need to have a certain level of fitness and advice on this can be given when arranging your try-dive.
For a try-dive, contact any of the committee members on this site or on a training night at the pool.
